Debra Teng is a Pan-Asian Chinese actress best known for her role as the popular Physical Ed Teacher on all 5 Seasons of hit TV series “@Moulmein High”. She just wrapped filming for a film called “Seeing Voices” where she plays the lead role of a dancer with schizophrenia who believes that she can bring her dead husband back if she wins a dance competition.
Some of her other acting work include award winning projects: “AlterAsians: Or Else The Lightning God” where she plays a woman who believes her mother-in-law has cursed her unborn baby, “Second Singapore Short Story Project: Coming Full Circle” where she plays a woman who resents her father for committing adultery only to find herself committing adultery years later. She played a rich tai tai who henpecks her husband in telemovie “Flat Out For Love” who discovered that he had been indulging in online dating behind her back. In “The Kitchen Musical” she danced her way into the role of Lesley, the Head Waitress which was first aired on AXN. She was also in a feature film “Hotel De Sade” where she played a woman who escaped from an alternative prison where she was kept against her will. She was a kungfu fighting Mom on kids’ drama series “The Private Bengs”. On all 3 seasons of popular TV Series “The School Bells Rings”, she was the rookie teacher who was promoted to Head of English Dept in the second season, and, later, the principal, in the final season of the series.
Trained in London’s prestigious Mountview Academy Of Theatre Arts, Debra Teng is currently based in Southeast Asia, Singapore. She is a versatile actress who works in Theatre, TV and Film and is often seen on TV in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
